"Art is not a thing, it's a way"
An artist is someone who produces things that people don't need to have- LIz, student at HTHS, this is my blog.

Reflection post
At the beginning of the year I thought Creative Art class was going to be a boring, unimportant class that just took up my extra space in my schedule. But as the class really started I realized this was actual work and you needed to put effort in this class and it actually made it quite the opposite of boring. The work that I am really proud of is my bike drawing, even though I hate drawing and that was probably the most boring assignment ever, I was really impressed with my work in the end. I didn't really think art was particularly my thing and I never thought I ever was going to be good at it, I realized throughout this year that if you really put your mind to it you can really create anything. I am so excited to take all my artwork home and get to look at everything I made.
Time capsule
The items I put in my box have a strong reflection on myself. My favorite item in my time capsule is a movie theater stub for the movie "Godzilla 3D", I love this because it kinda shows that I'm a really flexible person. I don't really go for movies like that but I'm spontaneous and free living so I just thought I would go see it for the fun of it. Another item I have in my box is a letter to myself which I made humorous and not so serious because that's the type of person I am. I wanted to remind myself when I get older and read this letter that I have and always will be an easy going person. I also love the outside of my box because it represents my favorite project of the year, making your own stamp. All my favorite single paper stamps I made back in the year I glued all over my box, which I thought was cool.

Florida story
When I was about 13 I went to Florida for the first time ever. I went with my best friend at the time and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Being from a small town in New Jersey I never really traveled or saw anything else other than tall buildings and streets. We drove all the way to Florida, yes, I was in a car for 18 hours. I can remember the feeling and how happy I was when I looked out the window and saw miles and miles of sand and ocean. My first step out of the car was on the hot Daytona beach, the first thing I thought of doing was running into that blue sparkling water, and that's what I did.
While sitting on the beach I looked down and noticed these beautiful seashells. They were like people, all different and unique in their own ways. I immediately thought I absolutely needed to collect as many shells as I could stuff in a glass jar. The air felt so much more fresh and clean than the air in Jersey, I wanted to bottle it up and take it home with me. While we were touring the beautiful city of Orlando we walked pass a bench with maybe 10 huge pure white parrots. They were just perched on a bench waiting for attention, they were absolutely incredible to look at just because of their amazing size and pure color. As I got closer to one of them it suddenly flew on my shoulder! Than one by one each parrot found a spot on me to perch and I was holding all ten of them. I still have the picture with all the birds and it's still funny to this day.
That was one thing I will always remember from my trip. I will also never forget everyday, seeing the sun shine it's brightest for everyone. There never seemed to be a dark day in Florida.

Fortune Cookie
I had a lot of fun creating this fortune cookie inspired book page. Right from the beginning I had a good grasp of the idea I wanted to portray. My fortune was "Cultured and artistic people will be invited into your home", I painted 6 different streaks of paint sort of coming together in the middle of the paper, that was to symbolize the people being invited into your home. My work represents the idea that you need to be willing to interact and learn from different and new people to he able to really find yourself.

Art x 3
The experience I had with the Art x 3 was an interesting and frustrating project for me. I didn't really connect with any of drawings I received and sort of had a mental block with ideas to put on my paper. I received a picture with cats on it and it really got me stuck, it took me awhile to make it my own because I had to basically redo everything because I felt like I couldn't do anything with the original. I life lesson maybe is to learn to let go of something that you created or something that's yours.
Pop Print
The process of creating the pop prints was so fun and creative. I liked how you could be creative and not have to make your print a perfect drawing, you could have fun with it. I chose to reproduce a perfume bottle, I picked this because I thought the word "PINK" on the bottle would look cool on the print because of the font of the letters and the style, it looked bold and popped. Printing in mass was the most fun part because you could experiment with many different colors and blends and patterns, they all turned out awesome and were sort of a surprise when you lifted up the stamp from the paper.

In our art class we were asked to bring in 2 blue objects that we could find in our house. It was surprising how many different shades of blue there are and all the different kinds of stuff people brought in! Some of the collections did catch my interest, like the perfume bottles! I think the perfume bottles look awesome on print and i just like the look of them drawn in pop art. The inspiration to this project was Portia Munson, we collects all different kinds of junk and random things in a color scheme. Her work is so fun to look at!
